TEO GHEORGHIU AND EMANUEL GRAF
piano-cello duo
The electrifying duo of Teo Gheorghiu and Emanuel Graf brings together two highly distinctive musical voices in a partnership shaped by expressive depth, artistic refinement, and an unmistakable sense of shared joy. Their performances are marked by a chemistry that transforms virtuosity into vivid musical storytelling.
At the heart of the duo lies a compelling interplay of contrasts: Graf’s burnished, deeply resonant cello tone meets Gheorghiu’s luminous, incisive pianism. Performing on the 1690 Antonio Stradivari cello “L’Évêque de La Rochelle,” Graf is celebrated for his emotional sensitivity and richly nuanced musicality, while Gheorghiu captivates with his poetic expressivity and crystalline clarity of sound. Together, they create an intimate yet expansive musical dialogue that is powerful, nuanced, and deeply moving.
Both artists are renowned soloists and have wide-ranging international careers. Gheorghiu has performed with leading orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic and the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, working with figures like Sir Neville Marriner. Graf, in turn, has appeared with ensembles such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig, collaborating with conductors including Mariss Jansons and Zubin Mehta. This breadth of experience lends their chamber music a distinctive orchestral richness and architectural clarity.
As a duo, they have performed at major venues and festivals, including the Beirut Chants Festival and Rachmaninov’s Villa Senar, as well as on tour around Germany. Upcoming engagements include appearances at the Festival Casals in Puerto Rico.
