Teo Gheorghiu will return to the Tonhalle on April 2, 2024, this time to play Brahms’ Piano Concerto N. 2, with the Alumni Sinfonieorchester Zürich, conducted by Mo. Johannes Schlaefli. The program also includes Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde, Vorspiel & Liebestod and the work that made Richard Strauss a young star: Don Juan, Op. 20. See you there!

Italian conductor Beatrice Venezi is known as a Puccini specialist with a vast symphonic repertoire. She has conducted at Arena di Verona, Maggio Musicale, Teatro Verdi, La Fenice, and, internationally, Opéra de Nice, Japan Philharmonic, Metz-Métropole, Opéra Grand Avignon, Opera Holland Park. This season will see her conduct Turandot at the Hong Kong Opera and at Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Tosca at Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, and Manon Lescaut for the composer’s centennial at Festival Puccini.
Her spectacularly charismatic stage presence and her passion for making classical music accessible to a wider audience have led her to collaborate on a wide range of productions, from TV programs to popular music competitions. Venezi is a Warner Classics artist and her most recent recording “Heroines” (2021) offers orchestral portraits of women.
